A significant update on my application to the European Court of Human Rights at Strasbourg [ECtHR].

The ECtHR has preliminarily assessed my claim against the United Kingdom and has issued a formal request that the UK Government should submit a statement of facts with written observations in response to questions concerning my claim.

This is significant because the Court would not have issued this request had my application been ruled inadmissible at the first stage.

The government must respond no later than 13 October 2026.

My legal team can then make further representations on my behalf.

There is potential that my application may become an impact case that again is significant because it means that the ECtHR considers the case may have important consequences, including leading to a change or clarification of domestic or international law or practice, raise important moral or social questions, or concern an emerging or otherwise significant human rights issue.

To recap, my application concerns HM Passport Office’s discriminatory passport policy and was lodged with ECtHR in June 2022 following years of litigation within the UK. I was grotesquely failed by the UK’s judicial system whereas similar claims brought in other countries have been upheld by courts without necessity for claimants to appeal to ECtHR.

Today I can finally announce good news that my legitimate claim is moving forward.
