X PASSPORTS
My application to the European Court of Human Rights at Strasbourg is still pending having been submitted in June. I’ve been informed the Court can take 12 months or more to reach a decision on admissibility – that is, 12 months or more before we hear whether the Court will accept the case rather than a date when we can expect a ruling which is several months further ahead.
I understand this is an intolerably long time to wait for anyone with an interest in this case, especially for anyone who needs to be issued with an X PASSPORT and unfortunate enough to have been born in the UK. While it is truly heartwarming to witness progress taking place around the world on X PASSPORTS it is beyond dispiriting to live in a country where the governing administrations appear intent on stalling progress and indeed erecting unnecessary barriers. This case is the first of its kind to be submitted to Strasbourg because similar cases brought forward in other countries were traditionally upheld in national courts. It is utterly shameful that the UK judicial system failed so badly in this respect.
I must make clear that the Strasbourg Court cannot overturn the UK Supreme Court’s heavily biased decision not to uphold my case however the Court can issue a strong rebuke that would reverberate and encourage other countries to accept the need for X PASSPORTS in addition to raising the profile of this significant human rights issue around the world.
There has been much online discussion about the UK Supreme Court decision. I cannot comment in detail however suffice to say that justice was not served on 15 December 2021. It was evident during the hearing that the case’s merits were not given proper consideration and resulted in an appalling judgement.
Given the ongoing turmoil in British politics it is highly likely there will be a general election called before the current abominable government’s end of term. It is hoped the same small unrepresentative group of people who’ve done so much damage to the country will not be re-elected [surely not, not even in basket case Britain]. With a progressive new administration in charge anything can happen. And I will resume lobbying for X PASSPORTS within Parliament.
The case will however be progressed in Strasbourg whatever happens here.
OTHER NEWS
For my own sanity, I’ve been concentrating on other matters as I wait for news from Strasbourg. I’ve started publishing Opinion Articles on Substack and I’m inviting followers of my campaign to subscribe to receive these. All are currently free and there will be options to take either paid or free subscriptions in the coming months.
The articles are not specifically campaign related but more concentrated on current affairs and right now particularly concentrate on the need to remove the current government.
My latest ‘BREXIT: JUST A STARTING POSITION’ can be found HERE.
By clicking on the above link, you will be invited to subscribe. My aim is to increase the regularity of Substack articles to not less than one per fortnight and I’d be delighted to have you on my subscription list.
